[86/100] Neutron-X [ENG]

Game Title:Neutron-X
Developer: Herocraft
Publisher: Herocraft
Game Platform: J2ME
Tested Version: 1.0.0
Phone Reviewed: Sony Ericsson K610i

Challenge Is Fun, Isn't It?

Story:
"Professor Gyzma" is doing some research in his laboratory, studying the properties of the unique nuclear battery "Neutron-X" for a long time. Now you will play the role of his assistant, to help him overcome a total of 30 levels of blocks. But the total energy of these levels doesn't match. He hopes you will help him to find the defective blocks. By his own estimate, there are about 5 faulty blocks. An unprecedented challenge is staring you in the face. But what exactly does the nuclear battery operate?

Design:
The idea of this game is creating "chain reactions". To complete the level, you should explode all the "Cores" using the "Neutrons" you have. The cores have four degrees: with 1, 2, 3 and 4 Neutrons. With the proper placement of Neutrons, you can create much more powerful energy. Try to get more combos!

In the game, all the Cores and Neutrons are placed in a monitor (well, something like a monitor :P ). The monitor is divided into 36 grids. You can also see that there are 3 digital displays at the bottom of the screen. They are the indicators to tell you the information about the current level. The one on the left shows the level number; the middle one shows the score you have in the current level, and the right one shows the amount of free Neutrons or moves you have left. Learning new things requires some instruction. Here, before you start your challenge, the Professor will guide you on how to master the new concept and handle the "Neutron Cannon".

After you finish a level, there will be a score and a Percent (%) indicator, which shows how close you are to the Professor's result. Meanwhile, a new level will be unlocked. The score consists of combos and the amount of remaining Neutrons. When you want to retract a false move during the game, there's an "UNDO" feature that may help you. 8)

Though I don't like the graphic style of this game, meaning it's not very well polished, the idea of the game really attracts me.

Gameplay:
Whenever you add a Neutron, the degree of a core will be increased. When a Neutron is added on a 4th degree core, it will lead to its disintegration, and will release four Neutrons in four directions. They hit the cores nearby and start a new degree-increase, and so on and so on. But remember, you must explode all the cores before you finish up Neutrons, or you will fail. The new Neutrons can be also placed on a blank grid to start the 1st core.

I have mentioned how the final score is calculated, now I'll tell you about the combo part of it. Scores are increased with combos. Each exploded core will give you 15 points and each remaining Neutron will give you 20 points.

Even though you can unlock all 30 levels, the Professor will ask you to continue the research. What you must do is to get all the levels over 100%. By the way, I want to say that 100% is not the crest value. You have the opportunity to reach a higher score.. So, don't keep a slack hand! ;)

Conclusion:
Dense and Actual, that's my feeling of Herocraft's games. Though they lack polished graphics, we can see that they have applied their minds on making games. The game may be kind of difficult for you, but challenge is the fun part, isn't it?
