Do-it-yourself-Anleitung zum Softwareupdate beim Nokia N95

Wie bereits berichtet, melden einige Besitzer des neuen Nokia N95 verschiedene Probleme. So liefert die eingebaute Digitalkamera leicht rotstichige Bilder, auch die SprachqualitÃ¤t ist fÃ¼r das doch relativ teure High-End-GerÃ¤t wenig Ã¼berzeugend. Ebenso wirken die einzelnen MenÃ¼s mitunter recht langsam, ebenso sind WLAN-Verbindungen nicht stabil. Abhilfe schafft das Updaten im Do-it-yourself-Verfahren, und das auch noch vÃ¶llig legal ohne Garantieverlust. Zum Softwareupdate des N95 braucht man auÃŸer dem Handy selbst und dem im Karton mitgelieferten Datenkabel einen Standard-PC, der mit Windows 2000 oder besser Windows XP mit allen Service-Packs und Updates ausgestattet und mit einer schnellen Internetverbindung sowie sinnvollerweise einem Flatrate-Tarif versehen ist.

Anleitung zum Do-it-yourself -Update

Die weiteren Schritte haben wir fÃ¼r Sie in einer kurzen Anleitung zum Selbermachen zusammengefasst:

* Aktuelle Nokia PC-Suite auf dem PC installieren. Diese zuvor am besten direkt von der Nokia-Homepage herunterladen.

* Das Handy starten und den Telefonspeicher unter System / Speicherkarte / Optionen auf der Speicherkarte sichern.

* Nun Handy Ã¼ber das (mitgelieferte) Mini-USB-Standard-Kabel mit dem PC verbinden und von der Nokia-PC-Suite "finden" lassen.

* Im Hauptbildschirm der PC-Suite das Icon "Software-Update" anklicken. Das Updateprogramm prÃ¼ft kurz, ob es aktuell ist - andernfalls findet automatisch eine Aktualisierung statt. Die Software entdeckt dann nach kurzer Suche das N95 - es darf kein anderes Handy angeschlossen sein. Danach findet sie Ã¼ber die Internetverbindung des PCs heraus, ob es eine neue Handy-Software gibt. In den meisten FÃ¤llen wird hier die Version 11.0.026 angeboten, die aktuell auf dem Mobiltelefon befindliche Version kann man durch Eingabe von *#0000# am Handy abfragen. Wer ein "gebrandetes" Modell erworben hat, muss aber leider noch warten, da die Netzbetreiber neuere Software-Versionen erst "verzÃ¶gert" freigeben.

* Bevor das Update wirklich durchgefÃ¼hrt wird, sollte man den Text auf dem PC-Bildschirm genau lesen: Das Handy muss per Datenkabel mit dem PC sicher verbunden sein, der Akku frisch geladen - ansonsten sicherheitshalber Ladekabel anschlieÃŸen. Am eingeschalteten Telefon wird das Profil "Allgemein" gewÃ¤hlt. WÃ¤hrend des Update-Vorgangs darf die Verbindung zwischen PC und Handy auf gar keinen Fall unterbrochen werden, sonst kann das N95 Schaden nehmen und muss dann zum Service. Das Update lÃ¤dt 113,8 Megabyte Daten aus dem Netz und transportiert sie auf das Handy. Nach etwa fÃ¼nf bis zehn Minuten startet das Handy frisch und fordert die PIN der SIM-Karte an.

* Zum Schluss mit *#0000# den Software-Stand Ã¼berprÃ¼fen. Es sollte die Version 11.0.026 (Stand: 15. Mai) sein.

Falls das Update "schief" geht oder wer sich das Update im Do-it-yourself-Verfahren nicht zutraut, dem hilft ein Nokia Service Center (NSC) kostenlos weiter. Ein NSC gibt es nicht in jeder Stadt - der Besuch kann aber lohnen, weil dort die notwendige Technik bereitsteht, um das Handy direkt wiederzubeleben. Ãœbrigens: Viele "Nokia Shops" schicken die GerÃ¤te nur ein, man wartet dann einige Tage oder Wochen auf sein Handy.
